FSWA-FSTA Special Announcement
FSWA Members;
I would like to announce a very exciting partnership opportunity with the FSTA for their upcoming event in February 2007. Here are the details.
Through a cooperative endeavor with Jeff Thomas and the FSTA, we are pleased to announce that the FSWA will present the 2006 Sports Writers Awards at the upcoming FSTA 2007 Business Conference in Chicago. The FSWA Award Ceremony and Cocktail Reception will be held on February 20, 2007 at the conference. Our awards will be featured and presented to the winning writers at this function.
Additionally, the FSWA will chair an Editorial Advancements and Trends Panel at the FSTA Conference, which will be geared to fantasy sports journalists - a first for the FSTA. Panelists will include long-time publisher Kelly Grogan, syndicated columnist John Hansen, Karl Mattson of ProTrade, and David Durochik of SportPics. FSWA Chairman Mike Beacom will serve as moderator for a Q&A session involving questions from the audience.
Our ability to partner with the FSTA on this level is very important. It is also extremely important that we ensure the FSTA Conference in Chicago a huge success. To this end, we are asking that FSWA members help cross-promote this event. If possible, we would like you to feature the conference on your respective sites. We would anticipate that you could speak with co-workers and associates about the event - highlighting the panel discussion which should be of particular interest to writers and editors.
It is vital that the FSWA play an active role in support of this conference. If you would like more information on the panel discussion or the conference in general, please contact me for more details.

2006 FSWA Fantasy Award Nominations Announced - CLOSED
Each year, the Fantasy Sports Writers Association strives to recognize the hard work and dedication of fantasy sports writers by means of annual awards for journalistic excellence. To this end, we are pleased to announce that the nomination process for the 2006 Fantasy Writers Awards will open on Tuesday, December 4, 2006.
Nomination Process:
FSWA Members may submit one nomination for each award category via an online “Nomination Form”.
Non-FSWA Members may submit one nomination (only) for consideration via the same online “Nomination Form” at a cost of $30.00. While the FSWA does not want to exclude any writers from receiving recognition for their efforts, this one-time fee is required to help offset the additional costs associated with processing the additional nominations. We would certainly encourage non-members to seriously consider becoming an FSWA member so they might enjoy the many benefits associated with our organization. Membership Benefits Explained
All nominations for the 2006 FSWA Fantasy Writers Awards must be received on or before December 31, 2006, to be considered by the FSWA Board of Directors.
Award Process:
The FSWA Awards Committee will review all nominations submitted by the membership. The names of the authors will not be known to the Executive Committee so that any hint of impropriety or personal bias can be avoided. The Executive Committee will pare down the nominations by means of an initial vote. The finalists in each category will then be forwarded to the Board of Directors for review and consideration.
The Board of Directors will ultimately select the winning article in each category. The winners will receive their award at the FSWA Award Ceremony and Cocktail Reception, held in conjunction with the prestigious Fantasy Sports Trade Association Business Conference. The conference and FSWA awards ceremony will be held in Chicago on February 20, 2007.
