Peterson, RGIII claim 2012 fantasy honors

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is the 2012 Fantasy Football Most Valuable Player, as voted on by FSWA members. Peterson averaged 131.1 yards rushing per game and came up huge for fantasy owners in the final weeks of the season. He received 82 percent of the first-place votes cast.

Redskins rookie QB Robert Griffin III finished second in the voting, followed by New England QB Tom Brady, New Orleans QB Drew Brees and Houston RB Arian Foster. Griffin III claimed the Fantasy Football Rookie of the year award, edging out fellow dual-threat quarterback Russell Wilson of Seattle. RGIII threw 20 touchdowns, rushed for seven, and picked up 815 rushing yards. Tampa Bay RB Doug Martin finished third in the voting, followed by Indianapolis QB Andrew Luck and Cleveland RB Trent Richardson.

FSWA members are eligible to vote for fantasy awards for football, baseball and basketball. The 2012 FSWA football ballot was created by FSWA Board Member Michael Fabiano and a group of distinguished industry leaders.
