The FSWA Board of Directors has unanimously accepted the recommendation of Yahoo!’s Andy Behrens to succeed Mike Beacom as FSWA President. Behrens will work alongside Beacom the next several months before assuming the position sometime early in 2015.
“I can’t think of a better person for this job,” Beacom said. “Andy is one of our industry’s most respected writers and someone I believe can help the FSWA reach new ground.”
Behrens has produced fantasy content for Yahoo! Sports since 2007, primarily covering football and baseball while also dabbling in basketball. Prior to working for Yahoo!, he was a regular contributor to ESPN.com, writing both fantasy analysis and non-fantasy features for Page 2. He is a nine-time finalist for FSWA awards. His on-camera work includes regular appearances on NBA TV's "Fantasy Insider" and NBCSN's "Fantasy Football Live."
"I'm thrilled to take on this role,” Behrens said. "Our industry has a terrific community of writers, producing clever, high-level analysis across all possible platforms. Often, the most insightful sports content now originates with the fantasy community. It's a privilege to work in the industry and to have met so many talented analysts. I look forward to helping the FSWA promote its members."
Beacom announced his intention to step down earlier this year. He has served on the FSWA Executive Committee since 2004, and has served as FSWA President since late 2007.
Behrens will become the FSWA’s fourth president (Ryan Houston served from 2004-05, and Kirk Bouyelas from 2006-07).
